that time we went to iceland

I spent the whole flight back from Iceland trying to figure out what I was going to say in this post but everything seemed too wordy.  Plus, I don't think you really want to read a play-by-play of how we spent 8-days and how many showers I didn't take.  Hashtag, gross.  And how do you even start the story of camping in a car in the wild of Iceland for a week, anyway!?? We hiked to glaciers, swam in hot springs, and I took photos that don't even do the place justice.

Nerds, Birds, and a Morning on the Water

My husband and I had a kid-free morning last week (cue the singing angels and glorious harp sounds, please!) and the weather was near perfection so we decided to take our canoe for a spin in the flooded backwaters of the Illinois River.   Now, something you might not know about me is that I'm not really into physical activity.  I love the outdoors, I love doing all things outdoors, but I really don't like doing the work.  That means, 'til death do us part, Kevin will forever be picking up my slack.  Carrying me up the steep parts of hikes and being a solo-paddler in all aquatic endeavors.  Sorry, dude, I have pictures to take and don't like pain. <shrugs shoulders>

AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! <---excited yell, so read accordingly.

Last month, I decided to shoot all of our everyday snapshots on film.  I'm a total film amateur, but I just swoon over it every time I see it.  Give me all the grain and nostalgia!  I have a 35mm Canon Rebel 2000 and a kit lens, so my gear is totally nothing fancy or exciting.

when the timing is bad

I don't currently watch Grey's Anatomy, but I used to years ago.  All the episodes, though the patients and dramatic discoveries were different, centered around bad timing.  Meredith confessed her love to McDreamy only to have his wife come back into town.  McDreamy confessed his love to Meredith only to have her start dating the vet.  Surgeon struggles, y'all.  Ultimately, the timing was always just so bad.  And while I am currently not a high-earning surgeon that does shots at the bar across the street after a long shift of cutting people open or have dramatic issues that deal with choosing just one soulmate, I get the bad timing bit.  Like, get it to the point I'm pretty sure I own property there.

documenting bath time

What is your favorite routine/scene to document? C'mon, dig deep, I know that one favorite scenario that you can *never* resist to pick up your camera exists. And don't be that person that says "I just love photography, I can't pick!" Nobody wants to hang out with someone so agreeable.

For me, hands down, it's bath time.  My kids can literally be at the point of driving me so nuts I need to be committed but then bath time makes it all better for at least 5-seconds.
